I got my information from googling websites and working at a cannabis shop so do not quote me. I want to bring understanding to the differences of CBD and THC and the benefits of both. I worked in reception at the cannabis store where I browsed articles pertaining to the weed industry to pass time but I also retained a lot of information.
Both CBD and THC have the exact same molecular structure: 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms. A slight difference in how the atoms are arranged accounts for the differing effects on your body.

CBD is found primarily in extractions from the hemp plant. It’s sold in gels, gummies, oils, supplements, extracts, and more. THC is the main psychoactive compound in marijuana that gives the high sensation. It can be consumed by smoking marijuana. It’s also available in oils, edibles, tinctures, capsules, and more.

Both compounds interact with your body’s endocannabinoid system, but they have very different effects.
Both CBD and THC are chemically similar to your body’s own endocannabinoids. This allows them to interact with your cannabinoid receptors.
The interaction affects the release of neurotransmitters in your brain. Neurotransmitters are chemicals responsible for relaying messages between cells and have roles in pain, immune function, stress, sleep, to name a few.
At this point I am just copying and pasting but you get it right?
An easier break down would be that CBD and THC don’t have the same psychoactive effects. In fact, CBD is a nonpsychoactive compound. That means it doesn’t produce the “high” associated with THC. THC binds with the cannabinoid 1 (CB1) receptors in the brain. It produces a high or sense of euphoria. CBD binds very weakly, if at all, to CB1 receptors. In fact, it can interfere with the binding of THC and dampen the psychoactive effects.
So in my words CBD is what I would put in my tea and THC is what I would smoke afterward. No really I sell CBD Tea! Anyways, I hope this blog gave you more insight into why I appreciate this plant so much.
My cannabis journey began when I was in my later teens and when I entered adulthood I looked into trimming and harvesting the plants myself. I worked with the industry briefly sharing the knowledge and respect for the plant with so many people.
In high school I broke both shin and a few years later my back started to have some issues so I am no stranger to pain! I use cannabis daily but I want to transition to a less psychoactive high and more toward the healing of my anxiety and physical pain.
Both continue to help me ease through life and support my body which helps me run my business. CBD and THC are a preference and a gift, choose wisely.
